Pat McDaniel's Carolinas Karate Bash

The Carolinas Karate Bash was held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Providence Church, Locust, North Carolina. Although the tournament was rescheduled for a later date due to Hurricane Florence that did not stop Martial Arts Competitors from showing up with determination in their eyes and Spectators from showing their support to attend this event. The Arbitrator, Ring Coordinators and Black Belt Judges helped make this event successful by keeping the rings running at full speed.

The event stated with Self Defense and presented Rebecca Aguilar with first place. The Musical Division was next and the competitors showed their skills performing to music. At the end of these divisions, first place was presented to: Mason Allen, and Rebecca Aguilar. The Children’s Divisions, the 5 – 9 year olds (Traditional/Open and Weapons) and sparring opened up all rings and the fierce competition began as each competitor showed off their skills and got the crowd going with their energy and determination to do their very best. Scoring points were very close and in the end of each division the following competitors were award as first place winners: Wyatt Ingram, Wyatt Taube, Megan Blaney, Nathaniel Wall, Carson Huntley, Mali Love, Maddox Love, Jack Blaney, Kenneth Gaut, Jordan Hathcock, Tommy Vansoest, Seth Duley, Aaliyah Castantino, and Arianna Patterson.  Not to be bested by the younger competitors, the 10 – 17-year-old competitors in Sparring and Kata Divisions showed the crowd even more precision and sharpened skills. With quick reflexes and strong kicks, punches and stances they showed what continued training could accomplish.  First place awards were presented to the following competitors: Malachi Hamington, Mason Allen, Emma Poulin, Caleb Roberts, Jules Drye, Jesse Roper, Angel Serrano, Andrew Miller, Morgan Land, Marc Lamb, Blake Gilmore, Tavon Smith, Caitlyn Burry, Andrew Miller, Allysa Dickson, Peyton Hatley, Bobby Boles, Releyus Love, Clint Nesbitt, Megan Lamb, and Tacey Stroup.

The Jr. Black Belts and Adult Black Belt Divisions presented first place in Katas and Sparring to the following: Connor Halpin, Cassidy Mueller, Oksana Wilson, and Grandmaster Rickie Maddox. Good competition, fair judging and tons of fun was exactly what the doctor ordered after such as terrible week of Hurricane (Tropical Storm) Florence which left the states in chaos. This event showed that no matter what the situation or circumstances we will come together to support each other as is the martial arts way. Professor Pat McDaniel and his staff did a Fantastic job in bringing everyone together for this event and made sure that everyone was having fun and enjoying him or herself.  Hats off to the scorekeeper, time keepers, and point keepers.  You all did an amazing job.

Grand Champion – 35+ Black Belt Kata - Rickie Maddox
