Warm weather welcomed competitors and spectators as they poured into the center for an eventful day of martial arts competition at its highest level.  The 4th Annual East Coast KSDS Tournament held at Mt. The event started with the Children’s Divisions as the 5 – 9 year olds represented their schools in Katas (Traditional/Open and Weapons), first place winners in their respective divisions were Wyatt Taube, Megan Blaney, Jack Blaney, and Ariana Patterson. When it came to the Sparring Divisions, these competitors took first place: Kenneth Gaut, Wyatt Taube, Austin Gentry, Jaylen Hinton, Seth Duley, Megan Blaney, and Arianna Patterson. The determination and compassion these youngsters have for the martial arts is amazing and an enjoyment to watch. While the 10 – 17 year old Sparring and Kata Divisions were not to be exceeded by the younger competitors their performances were spectacular and these competitors were awarded first place in one or more divisions: Morgan Duley, Diana Soriano, Mason Allen, Emma Poulin, Caleb Roberts, Vincent Black, Jesse Roper, Angel Serrano, Marc Lamb, Javon Smith, Caitlyn Burry, Jessica Daniel, Aldolfo Cruz, Elihu Lipscom, Collin White, Releyes Love, Antoine Shaw, James Neely,  Zearaney Toras, and Brenda Blackmon. These competitors showed that continued training pays off in competition as well as in life itself.

The Musical Divisions awarded first place to Mason Allen and Emma Poulin for performing katas to music while staying on beat. Congratulations to all competitors in this division as it is not easy to stay in beat to the music while doing any kata but you made it look so easy.   In the Adult Under-belt Sparring Division first place winner was Nicole Shackelford.  This is Nicole’s first year competing and we should keep an eye on her and other new competitors as they progressed throughout the years. Keep up the training!   The Adult Black Belt Divisions awarded first place in Katas to Eddie Harvey and Dale Harvey. These brothers are amazing showing that martial art does not have an age limit and to continue with any martial arts style is beneficial to your health and well-being.  Women’s Black Belt Sparring first place winner was Jamaica Brewster. All competitors gave their all in the competition showing their martial arts skills and precision in their techniques while showing their determination to do their very best in front of the judges and spectators.

Professor Dirton and his staff did a wonderful job in hosting this event and made everyone feel at homeCongratulations to all the competitors of this event  and keep on practicing your martial arts to become better as a martial artist and a person in today’s world.  This was Professor Dirton’s second year with the Dojo Organization and we would like to thank everyone for coming out to support his event.
